View Our New Photos -Mountain Skills Climbing Guides is a fully-insured, AMGA accredited rock and ice climbing service based in New York's Shawangunk and Catskill Mountains, affectionately known to climbers as "The Gunks". Mountain Skills was created to help aspiring climbers learn how to climb confidently and efficiently while fostering a sense of awareness about the naturalenvironments climbers visit.
If you are looking for a guide service to provide you with an introduction to the vertical environment, or you are an experienced climber looking to hone your skills and pick up a few more, we have an instructor for you. Our guides are highly experienced professionals licensed by New York State. We have climbed extensively throughout North America as well as at some of the finest crags around the world. Our passion is rock and ice climbing, and we bring our experience and enthusiasm to each client every day. We pride ourselves on having a staff that is sensitive to your needs. We teach with patience, and never forget that your comfort and safety come first.
Mountain Skills Climbing Guides is authorized by the Mohonk Preserve to guide rock climbing on the preserve. Located 90 miles from New York City, The Mohonk Preserve protects 6500 acres and is home to large cliffs known as the Shawangunks (Gunks). At Mountain Skills Climbing Guides, we support the ongoing efforts of the Preserve to protect the unique and fragile environment of the Shawangunk Ridge. Discounts are always offered to current Mohonk Preserve members. Please call us for details.
