Mountain Skills is a fully-insured, AMGA accredited rock climbing school based in New York's Shawangunk mountains, affectionately known to climbers as "The Gunks". Mountain Skills was created to help aspiring climbers learn how to climb confidently and efficiently while fostering a sense of awareness about the natural environments the climbers visit.

Whether you are looking for a guide service to provide you with an introduction to the vertical environment, or you are an experienced climber looking to hone your skills and pick up a few more, we have a guide for you. Our guides are highly experienced professionals licensed by New York State. We have climbed extensively throughout North America as well as in some of the finest crags around the world. Rock climbing is our passion, and we bring our experience and enthusiasm to every client each day. We pride ourselves on having a staff that is sensitive to your need, we teach with patience, and never forget that your comfort is our number one priority.

Mountain Skills is authorized by the Mohonk Preserve to guide rock climbing on Preserve land. The Mohonk Preserve protects 6500 acres and is home to the big cliffs of the Gunks. At Mountain Skills we support the ongoing efforts of the Preserve to protect the unique and fragile environment of the Shawangunk Ridge.
