The Gunks is located 90 miles North West of New York City. The easiest way to get here is to take The New York State Thruway from NYC, I-87, North to Exit 18; New Paltz.

Rock and Snow: After the Exit 18 toll plaza, there is a traffic light (it is a T- intersection), take a Left at this light onto Route 299. Follow Rt. 299 West through 4 traffic lights. After you go through the 4th light, Rock and Snow will be on your Left. Park in the lot across the street, near the Post Office and Mobil gas station. We will meet you in Rock and Snow.

West Trapps parking lot and Wawarsing parking lot:  From the I-87 Thruway, get off at Exit 18 New Paltz. After the toll plaza, take a Left at the first traffic light. Drive through the village of New Paltz on Route 299 and keep going on Rt. 299. Once out of town, drive for about 6-7 miles. Rt 299 dead ends at the 44/55 intersection. Take a Right at the 44/55-299 intersection (at the stop sign) and drive up the ridge. You will pass the Mohonk Visitors Center on the right. The Wawarsing parking lot will be on the Right just after the Mohonk Visitors Center.

To reach the West Trapps parking lot, keep driving on Rt. 299, around the hairpin corner and up the hill. Once you crest the ridge, and go under a steel bridge, the West Trapps parking lot will be on the Right, a couple hundred yards down the road.

Lost City/Coxing:  Follow the directions above to West Trapps parking lot. Drive past West Trapps and veer right on Clove Road (It is the road after the West Trapps parking lot). Follow Clove Road for a couple of minutes, and turn Left into the Coxing Trailhead parking area on your left.

Peterskill/ Minnewaska Climbing Area:  Follow directions to the West Trapps parking lot. Drive past West Trapps parking lot, remaining on Rt. 299 for approximately  1.6 miles to the Peterskill Climbing Area. Turn Right into Peterskill parking lot.

Bonticou/Spring Farm:  From the I-87 Thruway, get off on Exit 18 New Paltz. After paying toll, take a Left at the first traffic light. Drive through the village of New Paltz on Rt. 299 passing over a green steel bridge just outside of town. After the bridge, turn Right onto Springtown Road and than turn Left onto Mountain Rest Road (located at a bend on Springtown Road). Drive up the windy Mountain Rest Road, through a stop sign, past the Mohonk Mountain House entrance and under a one-lane bridge. Drive down the long hill and turn Right on Upper 27 Knolls Road just before a sharp turn. The kiosk and parking area for Bonticou/Spring Farm will be ¼ mile down Upper 27 Knolls Road.
